A chapel in North London is to host a memorial service in honour of the late Velvet Underground frontman and solo artist, Lou Reed.

The Newington Green Unitarian Chapel in Hackney will stage A Wake on the Wild Side on 3 November.

Atheist minister Andy Pakula will lead the service which is being held to allow fans of the rock and roll legend to pay their respects following his recent passing.

The minister said: ‘This would be a very different world without Lou Reed. There are many people who feel a distinct need to say goodbye.

‘This is an event intended for anyone and everyone whose life has been touched by his music and poetry, be they old rock stars, young musicians or just ordinary folk.’

The event is free and runs 15:00 until 17:00. You can source tickets for the memorial service on Eventbrite.

Attendees are invited to dress on ‘the wild side’ for the event.
