The owners of London’s Roundhouse in Camden are reportedly planning to launch a new music venue in East London.
According to the Evening Standard, the new location will be aimed at showcasing emerging talent and smaller acts.
The report revealed that those in charge of the Roundhouse are in talks with developer of the Millennium Mills building in Silvertown about the creation of a new music space.
Alongside an auditorium, the new facilities would also feature a studio, function room, educational area and a gallery.
A source close to the talks told the news provider: ‘The idea is to create a Roundhouse East.
‘At the moment east London has the O2 for huge established acts and lots of very small local venues but nothing much in between.’
The report revealed that Roundhouse bosses are looking to submit a planning application soon with the venue potentially opening in 2018.
