Music Venue Trust (MVT) has announced details of Fightback London - a new month-long music festival as part of Sadiq Khan's campaign to support the capital's grassroots music venues.
As previously reported, Sounds Like London is the Mayor’s month long celebration of London’s vital grassroots music venues, taking place in June this year.
MVT will host Fightback London as part of the campaign, with 22 participating venues already confirmed across more than 60 events. Venues taking part include 100 Club, Dublin Castle, Omeara, Electrowerkz, Borderline, Bedford, and The Social.
Special events include Camden Rocks and Bush Stock, while new live agency Talentbanq will be announcing a unique event featuring '10 independent artists at one of London's most famous addresses'.
Gary Prosser of MVT said: 'These venues are the backbone of the live music scene in London, providing spaces where artists can take their first steps, develop and grow. Fightback London provides an opportunity to showcase the fantastic range of artists and venues that London enjoys, celebrating the history of our music scene and supporting its future.
Amy Lame?, Night Czar, said: 'London’s grassroots music scene is absolutely vital to the city’s reputation as the music capital of the world. These venues nurture the talent of tomorrow and help emerging artists to develop their technique.
'The Mayor and I are absolutely committed to ensuring London’s live music venues thrive – that’s why he introduced Agent of Change into the draft London Plan and why he launched Sounds Like London – to champion London’s grassroots music venues.
'Fightback London will shine a light on amazing venues around the capital, encouraging audiences – both old and new – to attend a gig, and support the capital’s grassroots music venues.'
