Line-ups announced for Cassette Day in-stores

Indie-pop duo The Proper Ornaments, Welsh singer songwriter Bright Light Bright Light and folk sisters Cannon Street will play in-store gigs this weekend to celebrate the inaugural Cassette Store Day.

The Proper Ornaments and Bright Light Bright Light will be joined at Rough Trade East, London, by cult Syrian soundsmith Omar Souleyman and DJ Jen Long for an afternoon of festivities that kicks off at 3pm on Saturday (7 September).

Meanwhile Cannon Street will perform at Birmingham’s Swordfish Records, alongside Midnight Bonfires, Drakelow, Tom Peel and Oliver Rudge from 4pm onwards.

Other participating stores in the UK include Monorail in Glasgow, Rise in Bristol, Edinburgh’s Vox Box Records, Sound It Out in Stockton and Reflex in Newcastle. For a full list, please see http://cassettestoreday.com/stores

There will also be events run in record stores in Los Angeles and New York and Tokyo as well as Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, France, Italy, Spain and Germany.

Cassette Store Day organisers have heralded the worldwide event as a celebration of an enduring physical product that is accessible, fun, cheap and still going strong.
