Those familiar with South London’s vibrant music scene may remember Folkfest’s inaugural event in 2011. Back for a second year, Folkfest is returning to The Bedford, Balham, as ukuleles and harmoniums descend upon the venue.
With a colourful and varied line up, acts include Alessi’s Ark and The Fossil Collective (pictured above), but Folkfest promises to be much more than just a music festival.
Are you a songwriter or performer? The Bedford has a long history of directing the spotlight onto up and coming artists, and Folkfest will offer even more to performers with seminars and workshops taking place, so you can find out how to further your own music career. With panels and talks from number one song writers and producers, think of Folkfest as your very own SXSW in SW12.
Right now, you can get access to all 3 days and evenings, as well as a free lunch every day with a gold pass for £50, including booking fee. Students can enjoy the same deal for a paltry £40. Meanwhile, Sunday 22 July will be a family friendly day with free entry all day, children’s activities, arts and crafts and a hog roast.
So if you want to find out how the music industry really ticks as well as enjoy some great live folk and good food, check out the Folkfest website.
