Learn about US copyright law with the MPA

Calling all publishers - the Music Publishers Association (MPA) will be hosting a day-long event to explore the US music market and copyright law.

The Music Publishers Association (MPA) will be hosting a day-long seminar to explore the US music market and copyright law.

Taking place on 7 December at the MPA offices in Kings Cross, the event will focus on copyright and developments impacting the music publishing industry on the other side of the pond.

Expert speakers will include NY qualified attorney Tom Guida, Of Counsel, Field Fisher and MPA corporate associate member Lance Phillips, partner, Digital Media & Music at Sheridans.

The afternoon sessions will include a briefing by ASCAP senior vice president of International Affairs Neil Gaffney on the history and present day developments relating to the ASCAP and BMI consent decrees, as well as an update from Erich Carey, vice-president and senior counsel, Litigation, National Music Publishers Association (US) on recent Copyright Royalty Board proceedings, including the review to determine the rates that will apply to interactive streaming services from 2018 to 2022.
