PRS for Music and the Musicians’ Union (MU) are hosting a free event in Oxford advising songwriters and composers on how to make money from their music.
Taking place at the Jericho Tavern on 20 February, the seminar will see acclaimed local film composer Guy Dagul (The Last Of The Mohicans) in conversation about his career composing for film and media.
Music industry experts from both PRS for Music and the MU will also be on hand to advise on the importance of protecting your music rights, as well as gaining knowledge about the business behind musical creativity, and understanding the various ways that creating music can generate an income.
Stuart Belsham, PRS for Music’s education and outreach manager (East England/East Midlands), said: ‘This event is designed with composers and songwriters at every point in their careers in mind - whether you’ve just written your first song or your fiftieth. As a membership organisation, PRS for Music doesn’t just collect royalties on your behalf; we’re also here for creators to turn to for advice and education on the music business.’
