Student Pulse, an app for London students, lists classical music events with student discounts and has seen a 140 percent increase in the number of downloads since September.
Ticket sales through the app have increased by 200 percent during the same period.
Recent sales figures also indicate that students are attending more concerts, and are taking more risks in attending concerts with more challenging repertoire, than in previous years before the app launched in 2012.
The app was originally developed by the London Symphony, London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Philharmonia and Royal Philharmonic orchestras together with the London Sinfonietta, Southbank and Barbican centres.
Since the summer, new organisations have joined including the Academy of Ancient Music and Britten Sinfonia.
App creators said the motivation driving the development of the app was the need to increase participation, raise awareness and streamline the process for attending classical concerts. Some partners have seen as much as a 30 percent increase in student ticket sales.
