Cellist Jo-anne Cox, singer Eleanor Ross and composers Ailie Robertson (pictured), Preetha Narayanan and Henry McPherson are among the talent to receive support from Help Musicians UK’s Transmission Fund.

They number among 17 musicians who have been selected for the initiative’s fifth funding round. Each will receive grants of between £500 and £1,500 to help develop their craft.

Cole Bendall, Blair Boyd, Lauren Doss and Michael Durrant are also among this year’s successful applicants. The full list of winners is here.

From masterclasses and retreats on an international scale, to bespoke coaching from industry experts, this round of Transmission will enable artists to access unique experiences and develop their creative practice at a crucial tipping point in their careers.

McPherson said: I'm incredibly grateful for the support of the Help Musicians Transmission Fund in allowing me to participate in the Skammdegi residency and festival in Iceland this winter.

‘As an emerging artist, finding the means to undertake residency programmes for any length of time can be a huge challenge, often involving substantial time away from work and regular income. The support of this fund will allow me time and space to deepen my practice, surrounded by like-minded artists in a beautiful and inspiring setting.'

Claire Gevaux, director of programme at Help Musicians UK, said: We’re delighted that the Transmission Fund continues to support artists to achieve their development goals, and to be able to fund such a wide variety of musical genres is particularly exciting. The workshops, courses and masterclasses we’re funding are often crucial to an artist’s career, no matter what stage they’re at.’

Round six of the Transmission Fund is currently open for applications. Find out more.
