Claire-Louise Rossi beat a field of over 600 aspiring artists to become the winner of this year's Master Of Sound competition from Labrinth and Sennheiser. Claire-Louise, a Worcester-born singer, songwriter and talented pianist was chosen by Labrinth for a collaboration, which will see them hit the studio next week to record the ultimate sound test track for Sennheiser’s award winning headphones.
The Masters of Sound project, launched in February 2012, received an unprecedented number of submissions from aspiring artists around the UK - all competing to secure time in the studio with one of the hottest UK stars right now, Labrinth. The project, the brainchild of leading headphone manufacturer, Sennheiser, has sought to bring together both established and undiscovered musical talent to collaborate on a sound test track that will demonstrate the amazing quality of its headphones.
Following a week-long public voting period on Facebook (facebook.com/SennheiserUK) that received more than 23,000 votes, Labrinth was presented with the 20 most popular pieces of original music from aspiring artists and set about the difficult challenge of selecting the one artist who inspired him the most.
The final shortlist contained submissions covering every genre of music from blues and soul to dance and dubstep:
Two highest voted (in the public vote):
Batuhan Aras
Lincoln Savage
7 runners up (as selected by Sennheiser and Labrinth):
Lewis Bryant
Lincoln Savage
Jack Shaw
Dean Franks
Tom Cox
Oliver Florence Samuel
Joanna Power
As well as winning time in the studio with Labrinth, Claire-Louise will also receive a pair of the soon-to-launch Sennheiser Amperior headphones. A further two pairs of the Amperior headphones will go to the two artists who received the highest number of public votes. In addition to this, the following seven runners-up will get a pair of Sennheiser HD 25-SP II headphones.
When the final track has been produced, it will make its debut in a play back performance from Labrinth and Claire-Louise at a prime location central London music retailer (date and venue to be announced shortly).
'We have been astounded by the quality of the submissions entered for our Masters of Sound project. Congratulations to all those shortlisted and to Claire-Louise Rossi for amassing a huge amount of public support,' said David Morris from Sennheiser. 'Of course, there can only be one winner and we are very excited to hear what the collaboration between Labrinth and Claire-Louise produces to help us demonstrate the stand out qualities of our range of headphones.'
