The Kinks may reunite in 2014 to celebrate their 50th anniversary, songwriting brothers Dave and Ray Davies have said in an interview.
Speaking to Uncut magazine, the latter said that there was ‘every possibility’ of a reunion this year.
The Kinks, who released a string of hit singles during the sixties, have often been rumoured to be getting back together but clashes between the two brothers are thought to have prevented the reunion from happening.
Commenting on the impending anniversary for the band, Ray told the magazine: ‘I'd like something good to come out of it, not something sad. I'd like to do something sensible, artistic and dignified. There's every possibility it could happen, if people behave, or misbehave at the appropriate moment.’
Dave said: ‘We got together in August and the first few days were beautiful. We went up the pub and had a few Guinnesses, and we were talking about all kinds of shit, the old days and what-ifs.’
‘I said to Ray I thought that it'd be a great shame if we don't try and do something,’ he explained.
Hit singles from the Kinks, who first formed in London in 1964, include You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset, All Day And All Of The Night and Lola.
