Kate Bush has performed her first live gig in 35 years at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
The Apollo was one of the venues on her first and only tour back in 1979. Last night (26 August) was the first gig in a run of 22 shows finishing on Wednesday 1 October.
Tickets for the tour - entitled Before The Dawn - went on sale in March and sold out in less than 15 minutes.
The star burst onto the scene in 1978 at the age of 19, when her debut single Wuthering Heights went to number one and remained at the top for four weeks.
A midweek chart update from the Official Charts Company (OCC) revealed that 11 of Kate’s albums were back in the charts ahead of the tour’s opening night.
Her greatest hits collection The Whole Story, which was number one on its release in 1986, is currently eight in the charts after a sales lift of 536 percent from the previous week. 1985’s Hounds Of Love is at number 14 with 2011 LP 50 Words For Snow at 32.
