Classical composer and conductor Julian Lloyd Webber is to host an educational talk at Birmingham City University.

Taking place on 28 July, the cellist will host 'An evening with Julian Lloyd Webber’ and discuss his musical career and the challenges he has faced to get where he is today.

The event will be his first public appearance since his final performance and the neck injury that stopped him from playing the cello.

Julian said: ‘This won’t be a cosy ‘evening with Julian Lloyd Webber;’ instead I will be quite forceful about my personal views about what it takes to become a leading musician in today’s world.’

The classical musician has had an eventful musical career. He won a scholarship at the Royal College of Music and studied in Geneva with renowned cellist, Pierre Fournier. He went on to collaborate with a whole host of musicians including Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Lorin Maazel, Elton John and Stephane Grappelli.

He was also the only classical musician chosen to perform at the Closing Ceremony of the London Olympics 2012.

The event is free - visit Eventbrite to register for your ticket.
