Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood is to debut a new classical composition with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
The new piece - Water – is reported to have been written by the musician in the orchestra’s studio following the end of Radiohead’s 2012 Australian tour.
According to reports, the composition was commissioned by the orchestra after Jonny appeared with them back in 2012.
The musician said: ‘I’m so used to closely recorded sounds, it’s always a jolt to realise that the ‘in the room’ sound of an orchestra is a different animal from a recording.
‘The space in Indian classical music and the textures were a big influence on the commission.’
Water will be debuted live in 2014.
Jonny Greenwood’s previous compositional work includes the score for 2007 film There Will be Blood back in 2007.
