Sound and Music is launching Composer-Curator 2017, an initiative aimed at supporting artists putting on their own events.

The initiative aims to support music at grassroots level by helping artists stage tours, festivals or concert series.

According to Sound and Music, ‘the programme not only creates a space for artists to produce new work; it enables them to hone their curational skills, generating a more sustainable form of practice that can positively impact the new music sector as a whole’.

The organisation is looking for applications from UK-based composers looking to host events in the UK between June and October 2017.

Artistic originality and inventiveness, enthusiasm and commitment to understanding and building audiences as well as previous experience of curating and producing events are all desired.

Visit the Sound and Music website for more information and to make an application.

Submissions need to be made by noon on Tuesday 28 February.
