These are the first seven inches from Peel’s collection to have been added to the the John Peel Record Collection website.

The project began in May 2012 by making the first 100 albums in the famous radio DJs collection available.

The first singles to be added to the archive are from David Bowie to coincide with the singer songwriter’s return to releasing music this year and his David Bowie is exhibition at London’s V&A.

James Leeds, managing director of web development company Klik which has created the platform, said: ‘We’re not sure what we’re going to find, but it’s really exciting. John was instrumental in encouraging new music and artists, and his singles collection is likely to show this through some rare and obscure finds.’

A total of 40,000 seven inch singles are expected to be added to the website. You can view the online resource at www.johnpeelarchive.com.

The specially created online archive is based around the former Radio 1 DJ’s home studio and allows users to go through Peel’s records as they sit on their shelves.

The John Peel Centre for Creative Arts, website design company Klik, and Eye Film and Television, collaborated on the project with Peel’s wife and family.
