The Velvet Underground’s John Cale and Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth are among the key note speakers at Liverpool Sound City 2014.
Taking place in Liverpool 1-3 May, the two musical pioneers will discuss their careers to date, experiences within the music industry and what the future of the business looks like.
Other sessions at the event include panels discussing apps, new technology, the future of vinyl and the ‘pornification’ of pop culture.
David Pichilingi, chief executive officer of Sound City, said: ‘We promised a step change this year and we have delivered. John and Thurston are two of the biggest global names in music – not just for the records they’ve made but the artists they have inspired and the sub-cultures they’ve inspired.
‘For decades right up to the present day being into the Velvets or Sonic Youth isn’t just a decision to buy a record -sonic it’s a lifestyle choice. These guys literally changed the world, what people listen to, what they think, how they dress.’
British novelist Kevin Sampson, former head of the FA Premier League Rick Parry and ward-winning author James Corbett will also be appearing in the panels.
Former Rolling Stones manager and composer Andrew Loog Oldham was among last year’s key note speakers.
