has named JLS as the UK’s hardest working band for the second consecutive year.

The organisation, which collects royalties on behalf of songwriters, composers and publishers, awarded JLS the prize after the boy band performed 34 headline gigs in 2012.

Westlife were second with 31 performances while reformed pop act Steps came third with 25 shows to their name.

The PRS for Music chart was also split between male and female artists for the first time - Olly Murs was top with 21 performances in the male category while Florence + the Machine came first in the female chart after performing 17 gigs.

JLS said they were delighted to receive the accolade - '2012 has been an awesome twelve months for us and it means a lot that so many of our fans have had a chance to see us perform live. Thanks again for the support and we look forward to doing more in 2013,’ they said.

Barney Hooper from PRS for Music added: ‘JLS have once again demonstrated that they truly know how to engage with their massive fan base, performing live to as many of them as possible. Gigging is as important for the biggest performers as those starting out and it’s great to see that it is thriving in the UK.’

Snow Patrol, The Wanted, Blink 182, George Michael, Ed Sheeran and Madness were among the other artists named in the list of performers to regularly appear at major venues during 2012.
