Jessie first made waves with her collaborations with SBTRKT, but later earned her stripes with her own brand of progressive, soulful R&B. Her first single was 2011's lament Strangest Feeling, but really made deep impact recently with upbeat pop song 110% and Wildest Moments.
The Bacardi Beginnings Bursary is an initiative to help promising British talent become even better, with mentoring from seasoned writers and performers. Jessie and mentor Joe Goddard will be spending a day in the studio together on 8 August as part of the project, exchanging creative ideas with the overall outcome being a remix of Night Light, taken from Jessie's album Devotion which is due for release later on August 20.
Using the bursary to book studio time, Jessie and Joe should produce an exciting remix together, and increase the reach of Jessie's existing audience with the name of such a skilled musician and producer on her work.
Other Bacardi Beginnings mentor/mentee pairings include Mylo with singer songwriter and producer Ronika, and Friendly Fires with electro-pop duo AlunaGeorge. Both Mylo and Friendly Fires have yet to decide how they will spend their bursaries to raise the profile of their acts.
