Uk website Jazz Standard are hosting Jazz in the Digital Age at SXSW featuring double Grammy Award winning UK talent Jacob Collier.

The event, which will take place on 15 March at SXSW, will see Jacob joined by Christian Scott, Billboard’s Natalie Weiner and Jazz Standard founder Tina Edwards.

The panel will explore perceptions of the genre in the online age, what is modern jazz as well as where the future of the genre lies.

It will be part of a strong UK jazz presence at this year’s SXSW, taking place alongside the Jazz re:freshed Outernational live showcase featuring the likes of GoGo Penguin, Moses Boyd and Sarathy Korwar.

Tina Edwards, Jazz Standard founder, said: Jazz is breaking new ground - current artists are creating music that is unrecognisable when compared to jazz that was released twenty years ago. Gone are the days when we think of jazz fans being old suited men in smoky clubs - its fans are digital influencers, trendsetters and tastemakers. They're as big on Christian Scott and GoGo Penguin as they are Kendrick Lamar and the Weeknd.

'We’re stoked to be working with Jazz Re:freshed and British Underground on the Outernational Stage, as well as all of the artists involved. We’re grateful to the PRS For Music Foundation who awarded GoGo Penguin and Sarathy Korwar the International Showcase Fund, allowing them to join us at SXSW.'

Jacob Collier added: ‘I am incredibly excited to join forces with such an eclectic and powerful combination of minds, to discuss the power and relevance of Jazz in the Digital Age.’
