The nominees for the 2018 Jazz FM Awards have been announced, led by London five-piece Ezra Collective (pictured) who received three nominations.
The group are up for Breakthrough Act of the Year, UK Jazz Act of the Year and Live Experience of the Year for their set at London Jazz Festival.
Following with two nominations each are Theon Cross, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Thundercat and Denys Baptiste, while legendary venue Ronnie Scott’s also receives nods in two categories.
Elsewhere, UK acts Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Jacob Collier, Zara McFarlane and Yazz Ahmed received nominations.
The Jazz FM Awards are now in their fifth year and celebrate and recognize the best emerging new artists, contemporary jazz icons and established stars from across the worlds of jazz, soul and blues.
The ceremony will take place at Shoreditch Town Hall on International Jazz Day on 30 April.
Recent Grammy winner Cecile McLorin Salvant is the first artist confirmed to perform on the night, while the recipients of the special award categories, including the PRS For Music Gold Award, will be announced ahead of the ceremony.
