Jamie xx has composed the score for Tree of Codes, a new ballet to be debuted at the Manchester International Festival (MIF) 2015.
The ballet takes inspiration from author Jonathan Safran Foer's Tree Of Codes and will be performed during MIF, taking place 2-19 July in Manchester.
Choreographer Wayne McGregor, visual artist Olafur Eliasson and soloists and dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet are all featuring in the piece.
Commenting, Olafur said: ‘Clearly Jamie's music can't live without movement and space. Clearly Wayne's choreography can't live without sound and space. Clearly my art can't live without sound and movement. Clearly creativity can change the world.’
The creative team has worked together over the last two years to make a contemporary ballet that responds to the artwork.
This work is supported by the PRS for Music Foundation and MIF Commissioning Circle.
