On 20 March, Mealor will present his 43 minute oratorio The Farthest Shore for choir, brass, organ and soloists at St Brides Church, London.
The piece, which was funded by PRS for Music’s Beyond Borders programme, returns to London following sell-out performances across England, Scotland and Wales in 2013.
Mealor will be joined by five composers chosen from JAM’s latest Call for Music initiative - Michael Bonaventure, William Cole, Will Handysides, Daniel Saleeb and Benjamin Woodgates.
The concert will be performed by The Chapel Choir of Selwyn College (Cambridge), Ely Cathedral Girls' Choir, Cumnor House Boys' Choir, Claire Seaton (soprano), Aidan Smith, (baritone), Onyx Brass and Simon Hogan (organ), conducted by Nicholas Cleobury.
The evening also boasts a London premiere for Phillip Cooke’s The Hazel Wood, which was commissioned by JAM for its 2013 Scottish tour. Both him and Mealor will be in conversation before the concert at St Brides Church.
