The award-winning comedian and actor is set to host the ceremony for the third consecutive year.

The 40th BRIT Awards show with Mastercard will take place on Tuesday 18 February at the O2 Arena in London and will be broadcast exclusively on ITV.

Following two successful years as host of the annual event Whitehall will again lead the show through nine award categories and several exclusive live performances from British and international talent.

Jack Whitehall says: ‘I'm delighted to be back hosting the BRITs for a third time! I'm excited for another night of trying not to put my foot in it in front of the biggest names in the music industry.’

The announcement comes after the BRITs unveiled the shortlist for it inaugural Rising Star Award earlier this week.

Beabadoobee, Celeste and Joy Crookes are all in contention for the award which has evolved from its original name of BRITs Critics’ Choice.

The Rising Star Award is just one of many changes expected at the 2020 edition of the awards, which announced an overhaul earlier in the month.
