The Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) has announced that it will be offering a reduced membership fee for any musician who has graduated within the last 10 years.

The move has been made in response to what the organisation says is ‘the increasing financial challenges faced by music graduates’.

Costing £50 for the first three years of membership and increasing to £110 in the fourth year, graduates will receive a discount of well over 70% when joining the ISM.

In providing this discount, the ISM aims to help the industry and provide affordable support to musicians at the beginning of their careers.

By joining the ISM, members will receive a host of benefits that will assist in furthering their careers.

This support includes direct access to one-on-one legal advice and representation from the ISM’s in-house team, public liability insurance cover up to £10m and legal expenses up to £100k and professional listings to help graduates promote themselves and find work.

Graduates will also receive unlimited discounted insurance to cover musical instruments and equipment, discounted booking rates for industry events and discounts on personal and musical products and services.

Founded in 1882, the ISM exists to protect the rights of those working in the music profession and supports almost 9,000 members across the UK and Ireland.
