(left), Outfit and Hidden Orchestra are among the 15 acts to receive support through the International Showcase Fund to perform in Mexico, India and the US.

They are joined by Thumpers, YAK, Hooton Tennis Club, Arrows of Love, Jake Isaac and others who will perform at festivals spanning Mexico City, Atlanta, New York and Magarpatta City, India.

The International Showcase Fund is a partnership between PRS for Music Foundation, UK Trade & Investment, British Underground, Arts Council England and Musicians Union.

It gives support for artists to reach a worldwide audience through performing at key showcasing festivals and conferences.

This latest round of funding will see UK rappers performing at A3C in Atlanta, hip-hop’s biggest festival, plus the Mutek festival in Mexico.

Joe Frankland, senior grants and programmes manager at PRS for Music Foundation, said: ‘This year the International Showcase Fund has been able to support more artists from a wider range of genres to make those crucial first steps to showcase internationally, whether at the upcoming A3C in Atlanta or at the Americana Music Festival in Nashville earlier in the year.

‘It’s important we are able to also support artists to showcase further afield in emerging markets like Mexico and India. We’re particularly pleased with our fruitful partnership with NH7 which supports artists from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England in setting up long-term careers in India.’

Crispin Parry from British Underground added: ‘Finding ways to successfully launch a new act in the US has always been a struggle, particularly in specialist genres like hip hop, folk and roots music.

‘This autumn, in partnership with A3C in Atlanta and Americana Festival and Conference in Nashville, we have made significant progress with seven International Showcase Fund supported acts performing at these important tastemaker events plus dedicated UK stages supporting their performances.’
