International Cassette Store Day has been announced to take place in September as a celebration of the format.

Taking place on 7 September, events will be organised across the world in London, Tokyo, Los Angeles and New York.

On the event website, organisers said: ‘International Cassette Day will be a celebration of a physical product that is accessible, fun, cheap and still going strong in the turbulent current musical climate.’

A number of limited releases are expected to come from the likes of Transgressive, Domino, 4AD, Polydor and Wichita Recordings with artists such as Los Campesinos! Flaming Lips and Pulled Apart by Horses to be involved.

The London leg of the event will see DJs and bands performing at Rough Trade East although the line up has yet to be confirmed.
