International Music Summit (IMS) has opened calls for IMS x Mixmag Visionaries 2018, an initiative 'designed to support the next generation of industry innovators, influencers and disruptors.'
Now in its fifth year, the search – in collaboration with dance magazine Mixmag – is open to applicants aged 18 to 25. One winner will receive return travel to IMS Ibiza, two nights accommodation, an IMS Ibiza delegate badge and a three month mentorship programme from SheSaid.So.
They will also receive tailored career coaching sessions from participating industry partners including PRS for Music, a year's free membership to the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) plus a pair of Pioneer DJ HDJ-X10.
Previous Visionaries winners have included Valerie Lee (now west coast editor of Mixmag USA), Ben Bowler (founder of Chew.tv), Inder Phull (managing director and founder of KRPT Group) and Mich Mellard (chief executive officer of Sync Sync).
Ben Turner, IMS co-founder said: 'At the heart of IMS is the drive to be a catalyst in the industry, to bring about new ideas and develop new ways of working to push the genre forwards to guarantee a sustainable and successful future.
'A vital element of this is supporting emerging professionals and the fledgling start-ups that will fuel this change. IMS x Mixmag Visionaries has already found some exceptional thinkers that continue to make waves in our industry.'
Duncan Dick, editor at Mixmag added: 'Nurturing new and diverse talent is possibly the single most important thing the dance music industry can do to ensure its future success and sustainability.
'IMS' Visionaries initiative is a great example of an authentic, holistic approach to encouraging and mentoring the kind of young person we need today in the industry, and Mixmag is extremely proud to support it once again.'
