Experimental songwriter Imogen Heap has released her latest track using blockchain technology.

The artist released Tiny Human via Dropbox including the song, instrumental version, seven stereo stems, front cover image, music video, documentation about gear and music, plus making of the song document.

According to Imogen, the song and all its related data is free for people to ‘use, enjoy and experiment with’.

In a post on her website, she said: ‘In the spirit and search for a fair trade for music industry, developers and services are invited to upload this song to their various platforms to share the work they are doing with the rest of us.

‘This is to spark off conversation and hopefully pull us closer to the inevitable sustainable future for music we hope eventually have to find ourselves in.’

Music fans are urged to download, store and share the song for free.

Each service or ‘mushroom’ such as Spotify or iTunes is allowed to create an Imogen Heap artist profile as part of the experiment.

Blockchain technology allows artists to be paid instantly into their digital wallets.
