PRS for Music board member Imogen Heap will receive the prestigious Inspiration Award at this year's Music Producers Guild (MPG) Awards, organisers have announced.

The groundbreaking musician has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, winning one for engineering – the only female to do so – and another for her contribution to Taylor Swift’s album 1989.

She’s also an Ivor Novello Award winner and is currently Featured Artist Coalition’s artist in residence chief executive.

The Inspiration Award has previously presented to the likes of Nile Rodgers and Damon Albarn, and is given to a recording professional who the MPG believe to be, 'responsible for a body of work that has significantly inspired others'.

MPG Award directors said they agreed, 'without reservation that Imogen Heap is an exceptionally worthy recipient.'

As a solo artist, Heap has released internationally successful albums and as a composer, has scored for feature films and the West End production of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.

In 2014, she designed and produced innovative Mi-Mu musical glove technology that enables users to live process sounds using only hand movements.

Heap will be presented with the award at the ceremony, which takes place at London's Grosvenor House on 1 March.
