Help Musicians UK has launched the Musicians’ Hearing Health Scheme aimed at helping musicians from across the country protect their hearing.
According to the charity, the initiative has been set up in response to its 2015 hearing survey and is aimed at giving musicians affordable access to bespoke hearing protection and hearing assessments.
Findings from the Help Musicians UK study showed that many music industry professionals do not know where to find advice and information on hearing protection.
The scheme, set up in collaboration with Musicians Hearing Services and the Musicians’ Union, will run clinics across the UK over the year.
The scheme costs £40 (£30 for MU members) and includes a free audiological assessment and ear check up, one set of ear plugs, expert advice on referral routes and an automatic call back for a subsidised hearing test every two years.
