BBC National Orchestra of Wales (BBC NOW) is calling on musicians and music fans to help mark its 90th birthday by sharing their stories and experiences of the orchestra.

Stories could include seeing or performing with the orchestra, meeting a musician or taking part in a workshop. All anecdotes will be gathered to form part of the birthday celebrations in April 2018.

You can share your story with BBC NOW on Facebook, on Twitter @BBCNOW or @BBCNOWCymraeg or via email now@bbc.co.uk.

Michael Garvey, director of BBC NOW and Chorus of Wales, said: ‘We’re looking forward celebrating next year with the orchestra’s entire musical family - our audiences, musicians and friends alike.

‘We’re inviting people to help us look back at some of the wonderful moments from across the years to tell the rich story of Wales’ national orchestra.’

BBC NOW gave its first performance on 12 April 1928, in the Assembly Rooms in City Hall, Cardiff.

Over 90 years, it has helped to inspire the next generation of musicians, composers and conductors.

Recent highlights include a series of ground-breaking concerts for the deaf, deafened and hard of hearing in 2013, and the first Relaxed Prom in 2017.
