The Manchester band's management confirmed the rumour, which has been churning around the mill for some time, to NME yesterday. This will break a 20 year drought in brand new album material, the last being 1992's Yes Please!
Commenting on the news in an official statement the band's manager, Warren Askew, said:
The news follows an announcement made in January that the band would be re-assembling the original lineup for a May tour. The last piece of writing we have seen from any members of the band in the 20 year gap was of a different kind, the autobiography of band member Shaun Ryder.
Happy Mondays are headlining this weekend's Camp Bestival so it is likely those in attendance will be treated to some of the new material.

'Yes, we are now planning to record a new album, after the success of the tour and with the band all getting on so well. Shaun has been writing and the band have been getting together in the studio putting ideas down. I'm sure it will be a great Happy Mondays album.'
