Grooveshark, the streaming service, has signed a new licensing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

According to Grooveshark, the agreement resolves all previous disputes between the two entities to the ‘mutual satisfaction’ of both parties.

The announcement follows a similar agreement being reached between EMI Publishing and the streaming site earlier this month.

Grooveshark faced legal proceedings from the former for the third occasion in September of last year. The dispute stems from the alleged unauthorised use of music by the site.

Sam Tarantino, Grooveshark chief executive officer and co-founder, said: ‘We are excited to add Sony/ATV Music's impressive array of songwriters to our catalogue further advancing our mission to empower creators with the best audio platform in the world.’

According to music and copyright research by Informa quoted by Grooveshark, Sony/ATV Music Publishing is the largest music publisher in the business.

The compositions catalogue accounted for more than 30 percent of revenue market share in 2012.
