The nominees for the 2021 Grammy Awards were announced last night with more than 70 PRS for Music members nominated across 31 categories.
It’s set to be a big night for Dua Lipa who’s been nominated in six categories. Her 2020 record Future Nostalgia is up for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Don't Start Now appears in the Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance categories. She's also up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Un Dia (One Day).
Lipa will be up against Coldplay and Rostam Batmanglii for Album of the Year, and Harry Styles for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.
Laura Marling is up for Best Folk Album, Mahalia for Best R&B performance, Michael Kiwanuka for Best Rock Album and Slow Thai for Best Dance Recording.
Burna Boy has been nominated for Best Global Music Album, Andrew Lloyd Webber is up for Best Song Written for Visual Media where he’ll be up against Cynthia Erivo, and both Maxi Priest and Toots and the Maytals are up for Best Reggae Album.
Composer Thomas Adès is in the running for three awards: Best Classical Compendium and Best Contemporary Classical Composition and Best Classical Instrumental Solo, the last of which will see him up against Daniil Trifonov.
Paul McCartney and Depeche Mode are up for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package for Flaming Pie and Mode, Fred Again has been nominated for Best Dance Recording, OMD - Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark for Best Historical Album and Imanbek Zeikenov for Best Remixed Recording.
The 2021 Grammy Awards, set to be hosted by Trevor Noah, will take place on 31 January.
