Glasgow salon NAF! has been named winner of PRS for Music’s Music Makeover Salons competition, taking home a £5,000 prize to revamp their soundsystem.

As part of the celebrations, which coincided with NAF!’s second birthday, PRS for Music held a special launch party, followed by exclusive live performances from Edinburgh’s Elle Exxe and Dundee’s Be Charlotte  at Glasgow’s Art School.

Both acts are members of PRS for Music and have also previously been funded by the PRS Foundation.

More than 300 salons from around the UK entered the competition. As well as a soundsystem upgrade, which includes a bespoke music consultancy from globally renowned producer Steve Levine, the prize also included an exclusive event, held yesterday (Thursday 15 June).

Music plays a vital role in NAF!’s customer experience with the salon asking customers and staff to contribute to playlists.

Nigel Elderton, PRS chairman, said: ‘I’m really happy NAF! in Glasgow has won this year’s Music Makeover Salons competition. They clearly understand the power of music and how it can positively impact their business alongside a real strong sense of brand, which was very impressive.'

Salon owner Tammy Koslowski added: ‘We’re well known for our catchy playlists and fun atmosphere at NAF! Salon - our passion for music helps us connect with our clients and keeps our brand alive so we’re very excited to have won the Music Makeover competition. Thank you PRS for Music!’

PRS for Music launched the annual Music Makeover competition seven years ago for the pub sector, followed by the hair and beauty sector a year later.

More recently, as the competition has grown, PRS for Music has opened Music Makeover up to restaurants and fashion retailers.
