BASCA is hosting the Media Composer Conference, an event bringing together industry experts from the worlds of film, TV, adverts and gaming.

Taking place 12 November at Goldsmith’s University, the conference will see a series of debates and masterclasses, culminating in a key note interview with John Lunn, the composer behind the score of Downtown Abbey.

Seminars include a discussion on the evolving landscape of synchronisation with Harriet Moss (Manners McDade), Claire Freeman (Crown Talent), Dan Neale (Native) and Jenny Oakes (JW Media).

A roundtable with some of the UK’s most in demand drama composers working in the industry today will explore how composers can find a unique voice while another panel will examine the business side of being a composer.

Spitfire Audio’s Christian Henson will also present the composers’ tool kit, a masterclass on what and what not to do when writing, composing and programming.

The day will finish with a key note interview with John Lunn. John is one of the UK’s most established and successful drama composers having scored some of the most successful series of recent years, ranging from Downton Abbey and The Last Kingdom, to Shetland and new upcoming Sky One series Jamestown. An intimate conversation lead by BASCA's Gavin Greenaway, known for his work on the Hunger Games and The Dark Knight, will look at John’s career and how he has embraced a wide range of musical styles.
