Gerald Newson has been re-elected to join both the PPL performer and main boards as a performer director.

The vote took place at the organisation’s Annual Performer Meeting at Rich Mix in Bethnal Green in London.

PPL’s constitution requires that at each APM, the longest serving elected performer director(s) must step down and an election held. The incumbent director(s) may stand for re-election but alternative candidates may also be nominated to stand.

At this year’s event, Gerald Newson, current chairman of the PPL Performer Board, was the elected performer director due to step down. Gerald Newson and performer Ashley Mason both stood for election.

Gerald said: ’It is a privilege to be re-elected as a performer director. I will continue to do my utmost to represent the interests of PPL’s performer members.’

Peter Leathem, PPL’s chief executive officer, also commented: ‘I’d like to offer my congratulations to Gerald on his re-election. Over the years, Gerald has demonstrated a profound knowledge of the performer community. I very much look forward to continuing to work with him and I wish him every success in the role.’
