Gadi Oron, CISAC general counsel and expert in international copyright law, has been appointed director general of the organisation.

He has held the post of general counsel at the International Confederation of Authors’ Societies (CISAC) since 2012 and been responsible for managing the organisation’s legal and policy strategy.

According to CISAC, he has helped the organisation collaborate more effectively with legislators around the world.

Jean Michel Jarre, CISAC president and renowned French electronic music composer, said: ‘Mr Oron has proven himself to be a great supporter of authors worldwide. He respects and loves creation.

‘I have seen and have been impressed by his tireless work. Knowing his skills and passion, I am confident he will lead CISAC to new heights.’

Gadi said: ‘I am very excited to take over the position of director general. CISAC is a unique organisation and it is playing an incredibly important role for authors around the world.

‘These are times of major challenges and great opportunities for authors. I look forward to assisting them and their societies in promoting an environment that protects and rewards creativity.’

Prior to joining CISAC in 2012, he was deputy director for global legal policy at the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in London.
