Fun., Carly Rae Jepsen and Rihanna are among the most streamed artists in the UK from the last 12 months, official statistics revealed.

According to the Official Charts Company's (OCC) Official Streaming Chart, more than 4.4bn streams were served across the year with the Top 100 most streamed songs accounting for 9.7 percent of that total.

Fun. FT Janelle Monae’s We Are Young was the most streamed song of the last 12 months after spending four weeks as the most streamed song during last summer.

Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe was second in the chart with Ho Hey by Lumineers, Don’t You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia FT John Martin and Diamonds by Rihanna making up the rest of the top five.

Kevin Brown, head of label relations Europe at Spotify, said: ‘The huge number of streams that have been delivered in the first year of the Official Streaming Chart is proof positive of the huge and growing popularity of music streaming, and celebrates the contribution that services like Spotify are making to the music industry.’

Mark Foster, managing director of Deezer UK and Ireland, added: ‘These figures show just how significant streaming now is in the UK, with more than four billion streams over the past year it’s now an essential way of consuming music.’

The Official Streaming Chart was launched in May 2012 and compiles streams from a range of ad-funded and subscription services including Spotify, Deezer, Napster, Zune and Omnifone.
