Frank Holder, a 90 year-old singer and percussionist, has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Musicians’ Company Jazz.
The composer and songwriter has been a key member of the UK jazz since first arriving in the UK from Georgetown, Guyana during the Second World War.
Previous recipients of the prize include Ken Wheeler, Norma Whinstone and Dave Green.

A co-worker of Nat Cole and Billy Eckstine, Frank tutored a young Cleo Laine in the skills of scat and vocalese.
He’s been an important figure in British jazz for more than 60 years, having toured with Tubby Hayes and Joe Harriott and been a longstanding member of the Dankworth Seven.
