Fortuna Pop!, the label behind Darren Hayman, Pete Astor and Joanna Gruesome, is to shut down after 20 years.
The company was formed by Sean Price in 1995, and quickly became the last word in jingle-jangle indie and perky post-punk.
The imprint has since broken bands including The Wave Pictures, The Spook School and Martha, also becoming the home for US artists Pains of Being Pure at Heart.
Price revealed the closure in a full-page column in the programme for last weekend's Indietracks festival.
In it, he wrote: ‘...Nothing lasts forever. After 20 years, 200 releases, a mountain of debt and very little sleep, Fortuna Pop! is drawing to a close.'
On 15 to 17 July, Fortuna Pop! celebrated its 20th anniversary with a three-day festival on the beach in Ramsgate.
