Hawks and Horses, which is a setting of Shakespeare’s Sonnet 91, celebrates the cathedral city of Peterborough and will be performed at the local Broadway Theatre on 6 September.
It will also be performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (strings, harp, timpani) with a chorus of more than 150 voices (including the Peterborough Youth Choir) at St John’s Smith Square, London, on 30 August.
The piece has been commissioned by music education charity Peterborough Sings! with financial support from PRS for Music Foundation, Arts Council England and the Vaughan Williams Trust.
