Elton John joins song data hub Auddly and calls on the music industry to manage its metadata more efficiently.

In the past year, Auddly has entered partnerships with some of the world’s leading music companies and organisations, including Universal Music Publishing Group, ASCAP, PRS for Music and STIM. Its most recent partnership is with John, who will be an official ambassador for the company.

He said: ‘It’s time to realise that we need to manage our metadata more efficiently to overcome the challenges preventing creators from getting paid correctly, and I support Auddly in its efforts towards a more sustainable music industry.’

Swedish songwriter, producer, publisher and Auddly co-founder Niclas Molinder added: ‘It’s an honour to have Elton John on board as an Auddly ambassador. Thanks to his outstanding experience as a songwriter and artist he is very aware of the metadata issues and his support is valuable for us.’

Auddly is a metadata identifier founded in Sweden to fill the gap in the music industry’s data and money flow.

It allows music creators to collect their song data and make it accessible for the business side, in order to secure transparent and correct credits and payments for everyone involved.

It is backed by hitmakers Max Martin and Björn Ulvaeus, who is also the main investor in the company.
