Jeff Lynne and the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) have topped the album charts for the first time in 35 years.
According to the Official Charts Company (OCC), ELO’s All Over The World - The Very Of has reached the number one spot for the first time over a decade since it was first released in 2005.
The retrospective, which passed the million-sales mark following the group’s performance at Glastonbury, reached number six when it was first released.
ELO last reached number one with 1979’s Discovery and Time in 1981.
Commenting on the achievement, Jeff Lynne said: ‘Thirty five years between number one albums! I'm totally amazed. Thanks to everyone that made it possible.’
British rockers Bear’s Den landed their first top 40 album this week with their second LP Red Earth & Pouring Rain. The record was the week’s highest new entry at number six.
Elsewhere, British electronic duo and recent PRS Presents artists HONNE have also scored their first top 40 album. Their debut Warm On A Cold Night reached 37.
