The emergence of electronic music can be traced back to the 60s and 70s and the museum is dedicating a day to celebrate and investigate its origins on 29 September.
The event will highlight the movement's leading lights, explore some of the unique instruments and equipment used to create sounds, and display a history of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
There will be a range of free talks from speakers including Dr James Mooney from the University of Leeds, who will discuss the work of composer Hugh Davies. A key exhibit will be Daphne Oram's Oramics Machine, a unique synthesizer which was long thought lost.
