The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) has launched its musical line up for the Autumn music and performance season at Cecil Sharp House in London.

Running from 1 October until 19 December, the event series aims to bring together the best of established and emerging musical talent working with the folk genre.

Programme highlights include shows from recent interviewee Martyn Joseph, a virtuoso guitar player and songwriter dubbed the ‘Welsh Springstreen’.

Elsewhere folk artist Rosie Hood will mark the end of her year-long BBC Performing Arts Fellowship. She has spent the year working with a range of artists including Jim Moran, Emily Portman and Grace Petrie, with many of her collaborators expected to join her on stage.

The 80th birthday celebrations of folk heroine and EFDDS president Shirley Collins will feature, including the launch of her book By the Lines of his Hands, screenings, reading and presentations and an evening concert.

Folk Rising, the EFDSS’s platform for new artists, will also take place, showcasing the talents of Zachary Lucky, Winter Mountain and Nadine Khouri.
