Edwyn Collins is to release a new instrumental album as a soundtrack to a film documenting his recovery from a stroke he suffered in 2005.

The singer songwriter made the comments in an interview with the Guardian while on tour in Australia.

According to the interview, the film is called In Your Voice, In Your Heart and has been made by British directors Edward Lovelace and James Hall.

Edwyn suffered two cerebral hemorrhages which left him unable to walk or talk back in 2005 but has since recovered and continue to write, record and release music.

He told the Guardian: ‘I’m doing a new album at the moment. An acoustic one. It’s a soundtrack album, and it’s really good. One song has my vocals, but the rest of it’s instrumental. It seems to be really good so far. Well, actually, it’s finished: it’s coming out in the summertime. It’s exciting stuff!”

The singer was the driving force behind influential Scottish post-punk pop act Orange Juice who had a hit with Rip it up back in 1983.

Edwyn was presented with the Ivor Novello inspiration award back in 2009.
