Ed Sheeran, Sandie Shaw (pictured), Emeli Sande, George Benjamin and Paul McCartney are among the composers and songwriters to be awarded in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2017.
Sheeran, Shaw and Sande received MBEs, while Sade was made a CBE for her services to music.
Composer, conductor and performer Benjamin was knighted, while McCartney has been made a Companion of Honour.
Sarah Connolly (mezzo soprano), singer-songwriter Helen Adu and musician Chi-chi Nwanoku were also honoured for their services to music.
Elsewhere, industry veterans Sir Mark Elder (musical director of the Halle Orchestra) and Len Blavatnik (Warner Music) were also praised for their services to the industry. Elder was given an OBE while Blavatnik was knighted.
Ashley Tabor, founder and executive president of Global was also given an OBE while Continental Drifts managing director Chris Tofu was made an MBE for services to the music festival and live events industry.
