Ed Sheeran breaks chart record

Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud claims the record for the longest climb to number one, according to the Official Charts Company.

It has topped the Official Singles Chart after 19 weeks in the top 40, becoming the song with the longest climb from entering the Top 40 to the number one spot in history.

Meanwhile his second longplayer x is also the current fastest-selling and longest-running number one album of 2014.

Sheeran said: ‘I’m not used to having number one singles and this is my favourite song on the album, my favourite song I’ve written, so I’m really proud it’s getting this recognition.’
